Tips from Brent

For All Google Blog Owners: From Brent owner of (Brent’s Male Wallpapers)

If you currently have a Blog up and running on Google Blogger’s and you are worried about it being closed or removed completely, well you’re not alone. For I too have a blog on Blogger’s and it as been shut down once and this is what I’m doing to ensure that My Current Blog is going to be there for ALL My Blog Fans regardless of what Google does with it!!! And while this may not have happen to you yet, it appears to me that it doesn’t matter what you are doing or not doing, it is going to happen to YOU. This posting is ALL ABOUT WHAT TO DO BEFORE IT HAPPENS TO YOU!!! As the Google list of Gay Blogs just keeps growing and growing, with less and less Blogs being re-opened after they are CLOSED!!! So What CAN YOU DO….WELL

#1. And I DO MEAN NUMBER ONE!!! You should at ALL TIMES have a complete backup of YOUR CURRENT BLOG on Your hard drive, both of ALL POSTINGS, as well as YOUR TEMPLETE!! For Your Blog Just May Not Be Available To You Tomorrow!!!

And if you’re asking how to do this, Well Ok, that's a good question for maybe a lot of you, for I’m sure that so many of you always thought your Blog was going to be there for you on Google!!! But this is not true ANY MORE! So this is how to backup all your current blog postings, that includes all comments and reactions to each of your postings, that is if you have that feature enabled on your Blog. First go to your Dashboard and click on “Settings” for Your Blog. And right there on the very first tap under “Basic” and the very first item listed is: “Blog Tools”….(Import Blog, Export Blog, Delete Blog), just click on “Export Blog” and this will save all your current Postings to Your Hard Drive for the current date!!!!

Next is to save Your Template, click on “Design” and then click on “Edit HTML”. Once Again the very first item here you will see is “Before editing your template, you may want to save a copy of it. (Download Full Template), click on that and save Your Current Template! Be advised that by saving your current Template it does save all Your Gadget’s/Widget’s that you have on Your Blog, however, it DOES NOT save ANY of the values within them!!!

#2. After you have completed your backups of your Blog’s Postings and Template, now go back to Your Dashboard on click on “Create A New Blog”. For The Blog Title, Use the same Title You Used for Your Original Blog and add “-Reborn” to it. And for the Blog Address (URL), use your original Blog address an add the (2) to it. Example:myoriginalblog.blogspot.com would then become myoriginalblog2.blogspot.com and make this new Blog as a Private Blog. My thinking on this is since Google is making it such a hardship for all of us to maintain a Blog on their Blogger Service, then why shouldn’t we start creating a hardship for them by EVERYONE doubling up their Blogs and they have to supply storage for all these BLOGS and at the same time we are protecting our self’s with a complete backup Blog in the event our current Blog does get shut down BY THEM! DA! MAKES TOTAL SINCE TO ME! So let’s all starting fighting back rather than pissing and moaning about all this and let’s hit them where it hurts MOST! And this is with “STOREAGE” Can you just imagine what the board meeting would be like tomorrow morning when all the Google Executive’s get together and they are saying, “What the HELL is going on??? ALL Are GAY Blog Roles have DOUBLE!!!” And we are having to supply room for ALL OF THIS!!! Getting MY POINT BLOG BUDDIES! And by doing this, this is so much faster of get YOUR BLOGS backup and running again rather than waiting for someone else to every RESTORE YOUR ORIGINAL BLOG FOR YOU!!!!!! If someone EVERY DOES RESTORE IT FOR YOU!!!! SO Why, Why be at the mercies of someone else to decide whether ALL YOUR hard work should be seen by other’s or not??? When all you have to do is create a backup running Blog on YOUR OWN and make it a Private Blog for the time being and when Your Current Public Blog does get shut down, make Your Private #2 Blog, A Public Blog!!! It worked for me and I’m thinking it will work for YOU!

#3. Now after you have created your New Private Blog, Import your backup template into your new private blog, and fill in all the values into Your Gadget’s/Widget’s from your current running Blog. Then import all Your Posting, this is where it is going to HIT GOOGLE THE MOST!!! DOUBLE STORAGE FOR ALL THOSE BLOGS THAT THEY ARE SHUTING DOWN! And each time you post a current posting to your current Blog that is still up and running, then just copy it and post it to your Private Blog also making your Private Blog current with your Public Blog and then in the event your current Blog get’s shut down, your Private Blog will to up to date and you can make it public and start this process all over again! And if Google starts shutting down Private Blogs for spamming, then we will all know that this CAN NOT BE TRUE!!! For how can a private blog be spamming when no one as access to it except the author???

#4. And if you have made it this far with me and have done everything that I have said so far, then let all Your Current Blog Fans know what you are doing!!! This is most import!!! In the event that Your Current Blog does get shut down, then they will all know how to find your next replacement Blog by just adding the #2 to your current address that they can not find!!!, they will be able to find your replacement Blog. I am currently placing this information at the bottom of each of My Posting on my blog which you can see @ www.brentsmalewallpapers2.blogspot.com

#5. And Yes, there is even one more thing that you can do, as I have done, and that is to create a twine blog on another service that supports our kind of blogs and here are two of them that I have found that I can recommend and they are….

Nibblebit makes it very, very easy after you have set up a blog there, for you can import all your posting from your Google Blog, but the Google Blog MUST BE UP AND RUNNING to do this, you CAN NOT important a Google BACKUP!!!

#6. But of course the BEST WAY and the ONLY KNOWN WAY of total protection of Your Blog from being SHUT DOWN BY GOOGLE, other than with another service, and that is WITH YOU OWN DOMAIN NAME LIKE JEFF AS DONE!!!

Just some food for thought for ALL MY FELLOW BLOG OWNERS and feel free to email me with any and all your personal thoughts and/or questions on this matter at bjrvmanmb@gmail.com

It is with the GREATEST OF HOPES that some of this information, if not all this information is of some help to all My Fellow Blog Owners and a beginning for all of us to stand up and start fighting back for what so many of us are doing and what we are doing is nothing WRONG with the terms of Google’s Agreement!

Some very helpful tips. However, I'm not 100% sure "doubling up" on gay blogs is necessarily a solution. First off, why wouldn't google/blogger just say, "hey, all gay blogs are doubling... let's just delete them and get our space back". But aside from that, if they shut down a blog, I believe they shut down all blogs connected to that author. (At least, that's what happened to me when I got shut down the first time.) So having a back up may be useless if they're all listed under the same author.

Although I hadn't heard that having a domain name makes you "immune". Is that true so far? And I also didn't know about Sensualwriter, that's good to know!

Hi TFG, Thanks for your thoughts, but when My Original Wallpaper Blog got Shut Down, I had already created "Brent's Private Wallpapers II" and I still had FULL ACCESS to that Blog and Still Do, even while My Original Blog is still Closed and on my dashboard, I just don't have access to that one! And as for Google Shutting Down All Gay Blog just for Double them up, well that would be a BIG, BIG loss of a lot of revenue for them for a lot of these Blog uses Google Advertising!!!! And for those with their own domain name, this is true, for each private domain the user is paying an annual fee to be on the Net TFG! and Google as no control over any private domain web site! That is why more and more are doing this. Hoping this information might be of some help!

I've got to say I'm just about ready to give up. Almost all my fav blogs are gone and I don't have the energy to keep chasing down new interesting ones. Google rogue employee wins.

How can we let the non-English speaking bloggers know?

Brent said...

Hi Rob, for your non speaking English friends, send them this link:

I have this document posted as a Public Document on Google and once your friends are there, then at the very top of the Web Page, have them click on "more" and then click on "Translate" and a New Window will open. Then have them go back to my document and on top of the document in the light blue menu bar, click on "Edit", then click on "Select All" and using "Control C" to copy everything and then use "Control V" to paste it into the translate window so that my document can translated into their native language so that they will be able to understand what I'm trying to say!

Hey TFG, I had a Public Blog and (2) Private Blogs and when Google shut down my Public Blog for spamming, I still had full access to both my private blogs!!! I think Brent is on to something here BIG TIME and just might be helping a lot of Blogger’s! It seems to me that it is worth trying as we all watch the Closed List Growing day by day!!!

Well, I'm glad others have had a different experience. It's worth a try, but like I said, based on my personal experience, when my blog got shut down, ALL my blogs shut down. So that's why I'm skeptical if this tactic will work. But according to others, that may no longer be the case, so it's worth a try.

Oh, and I just heard from Lycra Keen that LA Lycra blog got shut down. :(

One other question: is there any reason (aside from homophobia) that google is shutting these blogs down? How are they justifying it? Are hetero blogs being shut down? My BF suspects it may have to do with photo copyright violations, but I'm not so sure. Are there any theories?

Brent you are a true Genius, sheer genius! I have been enjoying watching a Genius at work, week after week with many of Your Great Wallpapers now for some time, but now seeing another side of You sharing your thoughts of help for those that might need it the most, like me, well how do I thank a Genius!!! Other than saying, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! I knew about backing up all my posting, but never knew that I could backup my template!!!! Wow, that is a great big time saver for sure!!! And taking your advise Brent, I now have a “Private Blog” that is current with my “Public Blog”!!!! Hoping I do not every have to use it, but I’m so glad it is there just encase like you said! I’m sending you a personal e-mail, but I wanted to post this here so that others will know that I’m in TOTAL AGREEMENT WITH WHAT YOU SAID, it all made total since to me!!! Bill in Arizona that as signed on as “Anonymous” just encase Google is following this Blog!!!!

Hey Brent, I would like to echo Bill’s words in Arizona, for I didn’t even know that I could download and save my blog to my hard drive till I read this. Let alone the difference between a “Public Blog” and a “Private Blog”, but I did some searching on this subject and found out how to make a “Private Blog” and you have opened up a whole new Blog World for Me. Thank you so much for all this great information. Antonio

Hi Once Again Guys, This a follow up to Jeff’s original Posting Above that I submitted to him, for I have just learned that Best Male Blogs Dot Com, that has been listing many of our Blogs, that has been bring more and more traffic to our Blogs each day is NOW HOSTING FREE ADULT GAY BLOGS!!! Guessing they got tired of having to do so many up-dates on their web site of “Best Male Blogs” with so many Google Blogs being closed or removed that they started their own free blog hosting service for all of us!!!! ((( Big, Big Smile ))) They are using Wordpress 3.0 format and you at check it out at….

This is going to give Google some second thoughts when so many Blogs start to switching over to this Great Service that is Gay Friendly for sure and their Advertiser's starting say why should we be Advertising HERE!!!! And once you setup a Blog here, you can import all your current Postings from Your Google Blog right into your New Blog HERE! Or just maybe you will want it at least as Twin Blog just encase Google does SHUT YOU DOWN!!!!

I always motivated by you, your thoughts and way of thinking, again, appreciate for this nice post.

TGF, I'm real late in posting this but I wanted to respond to your question as to why so many blogs are being closed. First of all, yes, blogs of all sorts are being closed: adult (gay & het), and non-adult. Google/Blogger uses algorithms to hunt down possible spam blogs. They do not use real, live people for this. If you check the Blogger Help forums you will see all sorts of blogs being closed down....even grammar school kids who have blogs as a class assignment. Once the algorithm closes a blog, one must follow Blogger procedures in order to get it open again.

It is my understanding that Blogger employees do not look for copyright infringement. It is prohibited by Terms of Service, but it usually takes the actual owner of the image to contact Google/Blogger in order for Blogger to shut the blog. More frequently, the owner of the image contacts the blog owner, threatens a lawsuit, and the blog owner takes the image down without the blog ever being shut down.

Bottom line, Google/Blogger has untold number of blogs, thousands are closed every day, and they do not have that many employees to work these blogs. Most are volunteers without authority to actually do anything to your blog. Hope this helps. Jeff
